Compensation for property management services is typically one of two arrangements.  A monthly or seasonal subscription service is one method where the property manager receives a monthly payment for providing services as per the request of the owners.  A finders fee service will compensate the property manager for lining up the right contractor as necessary.  A third arrangement will provide for a combination of the two services.

The purpose of  a property manager is to free you up to enjoy your place without struggling with the logistics of maintaining your property.  A good property manager will not only free up your time but also look out for your long term interests.  Property manager’s stay abreast of local politics, code changes, and other factors at work in the valuation of your property.

A strong service will not only maintain your property but also inform you of external forces at work so you can make long term decisions from an estate management perspective.  The topics could be anything from a new local ordinance to a new home owners association with overly burdensome restrictions.  Things that devalue or increase the value of your property are relevant topics that it is okay to discuss with a property manager.
